Hi John, In SuSE the run levels are different from other distros. Run level 2 is multi-user, text mode command prompt, and level 3 is graphical login - when you want to boot straight into X. I tend to cheat and use yast rather than editing the init directly. I haven't installed 7.0 yet (mostly still on 6.3) but assuming nothing is drastically changed you can get back into the system by entering "linux 2" at the lilo prompt - assuming that your default config is called linux (press tab at the lilo prompt to check). This should bring you back to run level 2 and let you change the init back. To set the graphical login the easiest way is to go into yast/system administration/login configuration. First post from me so hello folks! I have just installed Suse Linux 7.0 and as a first time Linux user I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle. The system was running OK, booting to the command line and I could run KDE with startx. I then decided to (this is where I start talking gibberish because I am now at work, my PC is at home and I forgot to bring in my notes) edit id:3:initdefault to id:5:initdefault which should let me boot directly into X. The system now hangs on bootup saying "No more processes at this runlevel". What's happening?
