Hello Jens,
From the keyboard of Jens,
Hi Folks,
we have some trouble using the ypserver from suse 7.3. It does NOT do a DNS lookup if a NIS client asks for a host name which can't be resolved using the NIS maps. In the config file ypserv.conf is a hint that this option will be ignored. There is a new ypserv version (2.2) available - does this version support the DNS lookup feature?? We don't want to adjust all our clients to do the DNS lookup on its own if the the NIS lookup fails.
man nsswitch.conf In /etc/nsswitch.conf you can configure all maps you want to use to resolve your hostnames. For example: hosts: files nis dns BTW: This is a german mailing list. bye Waldemar -- Are your questions smart enough? http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html If not: perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(41*2),sqrt(7056),(unpack(c,H)-2),oct(115),10);'
