Hi, Is it possible to enhance /Application:/Geo with more GIS software? I represent "GIS-LAB" (http://gis-lab.info/index-eng.html) - informal non-commercial community of GIS/RS (geoinformation systems/ remote sensing) specialists. We are trying do convince GIS specialists in Russia to use open-sourced software and data. The problem is that there is a lack of GIS and scientific software in such remarkable and useful distros like openSUSE and others, so it is very difficult to inexperienced user to install programs by themselves. This situation prevents users to move to the linux (and openSUSE in particular) from damn Windows. I'm asking you to include open-sourced software from the list below into the /repositories/Application:/Geo. When it will be done, openSUSE will get much more users which work is in the field of GIS all over the world. The list (not by preferences): 1. GEOS (http://trac.osgeo.org/geos/) 2. SpatiaLite (http://www.gaia-gis.it/spatialite/) 3. gvSIG (http://www.gvsig.org/web/?id=1729&L=2&K=1) 4. uDig (http://udig.refractions.net) 5. GeoServer (http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/Stable) 6. Kosmo (http://www.opengis.es/) 7. OpenJUMP (http://openjump.org) 8. OSSIM (http://www.ossim.org/OSSIM/Downloads.html) 9. JOSM (http://josm.openstreetmap.de/) 10. R (http://www.r-project.org/) I have seen some of the programs above in the openSUSE software wish-list and hoped that they will be added to repositories, but they were not... You are doing a grate job in openSUSE project I appreciate it and I really have a lot of fun! But the fun is over when you have to do your work and there is no required program in the repository. By the way. There is no QGIS in /Application:/Geo for openSUSE 11.3. Is this because of QGIS new release coming soon?
