there are 3 flags involved (2 new, 1 old flag binarydownload).

There is a webpage for it, but its currently not up to date.

you have:

flag <sourceacces> + permission "source_access" + role "reader" :
controls the access to the source code
flag <privacy> + permission "private_view" : controls viewing of
diverse status data
flag <binarydownload> + permission "'download_binaries" : controls
access to the binary packages

If you are group maintainer, you have all 3 permissions and can do all
3. With the group role management, you can also assign the permission
for all that to own roles.

All 3 flags are <enable/> by default, which means no change towards not
using ACL. You can use them by putting in at package or project level a

For some strange reason, I can currently not login into the wiki, thats
why I did not update the Webpages yet.

We find the 1.8 official release today. It's better than the RC5. Thank you

With the 1.8 release version, I am able to create some private packages and I
still have some questions. Could some one confirm that? Thanks.

Here is my matrix. The first 2 columns are the flags for the project. The 3rd
column is the effect when another user try to access the project/packages.
sourceaccess, privacy, effect
disable, disable, the other user (not in the user list of the project) can see
the project only but not packages
disable, enable, the other user can see the project and the package. but no
package downloading
enable, enable, the other user can see and download the project and packages

Is it the correct behaviour? So 2 flags are in package level instead of
project level. (The project is always published)

And there are 2 new permissions: "source_access" and "private_view". What are
they for?

Subject: how to read access control in OBS 1.8

I want to create a project which is private to some group only but no
success. Could someone shed some light on me? Thanks.

More particular, I have the following questions.

1) Is the OBS 1.8 RC5 the release version? I download them from
If not, where should I get the release version?

2) There are 2 new flags are added for a project. "sourceaccess" and
"privacy". What's mean for these 2? I believe I need to set to "enable" for
"privacy" for a project. How about "souceaccess"

3) There are 2 new permissions too: "source_access" and "private_view". How
do I use them?

4) After the project is created, who has and who does not have the privilege
to read/write the project?

Actually, I am wandering, is there a manual for OBS, especially for the
role/permission part. Thanks.
