http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1155680 Bug ID: 1155680 Summary: Program digikam requires ieee1284 library Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: djw@noc.ac.uk QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- If I try and run photograph library program 'digicam' on my x86_64 system, I am told that library libieee1284.so is missing. If I use yast to check the digicam dependencies, the library is not included. I also cannot find any other package providing ieee1284 in either 15.1 or tumbleweed. In previous releases my solution has been to download the code from sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/libieee1284/), configure using the '--without-python' option, 'make' and then try 'make install' - which unfortunately does not install the libraries in /usr/lib64 - so I do this by hand. digikam then runs without problem. However I am now slightly confused as I now see ieee1284 can be part of the kernel. https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/drivers/parport/ieee1284.c So the bug is one of: (a) digikam should be compiled without parport support (b) ieee1284 should be included in the standard kernel (c) ieee1284 should be available as a package and this added as a dependency to digikam. (d) I should have known or be told in the release notes that I would have to add ieee1284 to some list of required kernel modules. (e) Something else. I know that parallel ports are pretty rare these days but I think these all count as bugs. Regards, David Webb. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
