Anyway, the dependencies roughly (should) work this way:
yast does not directly require libyui-ncurses-pkg but rather libyui_pkg which
is
a symbol provided by both libyui-ncurses-pkg or libyui-qt-pkg.
So *one* of the ncurses or qt variants is needed.
libyui-ncurses-pkg likely comes into play via some pattern. On my system
the 'console' pattern *recommends* it and yast2_basis *requires* it.
Try 'zypper search -t pattern' and 'zypper info -t pattern XXX' to explore
the situation on your system.
Unfortunately, only the solver test case would have shown exactly what has
happened.
