./trigger-ar-crash.sh ar: /tmp/ar-bug/libs2/libz.so.1: no version information available (required by /usr/lib64/libbfd-2.31.1.20180828-329.so)
no crash.
ar --version GNU ar (GNU Binutils; devel:gcc / openSUSE_Leap_42.3) 2.31.1.20180828-329 Copyright (C) 2018 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
but I have
ls -l /usr/lib64/bfd-plugins/ total 4 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Jun 29 11:34 LLVMgold.so -> ../LLVMgold.so
thus in the wrong path (I think BFD searches plugins in /usr/lib/, not /usr/lib64).
rpm -qf /usr/lib64/bfd-plugins/LLVMgold.so llvm-clang-3.8.0-5.1.x86_64
but even when explicitely loading the plugin with --plugin I do not get a crash. Note LLVMgold.so links against a lot of (LLVM) libraries, so maybe your LLVM install is somehow mixed up? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
