http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1116615 Bug ID: 1116615 Summary: Periodic short freezes of the DE Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: michiel@nexigon.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 790208 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=790208&action=edit dmesg.log Since about a month I experience following behavior: Periodic short freezes of the DE, I mostly run gnome-shell Duration of the freezes is always about a second. When typing, after freeze: repeated entries of typed keys are displayed, so more than I actually typed. So typing passwords is a not reliable at the moment. Dragging windows and pointing with the mouse also displays the freezes Timing: the freezes seem to happen with intervals varying from 10 seconds to a minute. First I thought Bug 1112824 was related enough to keep an eye on its progress. However most descriptions from that report seem to be triggered by user actions. This is not triggered, it just happens at intervals. It doesn't seem kernel related. I tested with kernel 4.17.9-1, 4.18.13-1 and current kernel 4.19.1-1, no noticeable difference. Happens in both gnome-shell as in xorg. Also on login screen, while not logged in. At this moment I'm on snapshot 20181116 Big guess that it started after the transition from gnome 3.28 to 3.30, so for now I selected Gnome as bug component.
