--- Comment #106 from Edward Van Every ---
I just installed and tested the latest test kernel
(4.12.14-lp150.170.g260788d-default):
- installed the test kernel (rpm -i --force)
- checked the boot options to confirm new kernel was being referenced and
removed the "video=vesafb:mtrr:3" option
- booted into the test kernel
- confirmed test kernel (uname -r)
- X11 Performance (sddm/plasma) appears to be on par with the video option
workaround.
- dropped to runlevel 3 and also confirmed text mode "listings" were at the
speed that would be expected.
So it appears that the prepared test kernel does resolve the slow X11 and text
mode issues with the AST driver.
I have also not experienced any graphics corruption but I also don't know any
way to reliably test this.
Is there anything else you would like me to test while I have this environment
still in place?
