Could you elaborate what is the problem? I don't kow what you expect by the "volume control on a keyboard" you mention: what you did and what happened.
And on XFCE, it's pretty much depending on the setup. Did you install and enable PulseAudio? If yes, did you install the corresponding xfce4 pulseaudio package?
This is an issue with the volume controls on a keyboard or on a laptop, the physical volume up and down or knobs.
As for Pulseaudio, yes. The only way i can control the volume for various streams and devices is via PulseAudio Control. Using XFCe's pulseaudio volume plugin for the panel works but that isnt the issue with this bug.
If there is one sound source (onboard audio) then the volume controls on a keyboard or laptop function as expected, boot up with more than one audio device then the volume keys do not function at all.
Here is a scenario, I have my Poweredge T410 which has no onboard audio. I have a Kennsginton USB dock with built in audio, USB, Serial and LPT for added expansion. I also have plugged in a set of Logitech speakers that sens power and audio through USB, then i have a logitech USB headset. When the system boots up the volume control knob on the keyboard doesn't manipulate the volume for any of the devices. The Logitech speakers are set to be the systems default in Pulse Audio. Another Scenario, My Inspiron 3850 has onboard audio and if i boot up just with that then the volume control buttons on the keyboard function as expected. If i boot up with either my Logitech VOID or the Triton Kunai USB headset plugged in then the keyboard's volume controls don't function for any device even though the onboard is the main default. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
