I think I've experienced the same problem: Since my PC was upgraded from
Windows 7 to Windows 10, my NTFS USB stick cannot be mounted in openSUSE 43.3
after it has been used in Windows 10 (and being safely ejected, BTW). Linux
says the filesystem is damaged.
I can mount the filesystem after running "ntfsfix /dev/sde", which outputs:
Mounting volume... $MFTMirr does not match $MFT (record 28).

NTFS partition /dev/sde was processed successfully.

Notes: Windows 10 does NOT check the stick, when it's being inserted, but
Windows 7 does!
Fixing the filesystem once is not enough, as the cycle repeats!
