--- Comment #6 from Matthias Gerstner
Does this make more sense to you now?
Not really. The error message is confusing and it's not documented in the Wiki.
yeah the part 'which makes it harder for admins to find' is not correct any more. This was a misconception back then. I can try to improve on the error message. Do you have a suggestion for a better error message? We could add a link to the wiki to the error message. I have to think about that and discuss it in the team. I can also add the exact wording from the error messages to the wiki. And a hint regarding the rpmlintrc workaround.
And even if it were:
1.) It's needlessly increases the barrier for new packagers.
What exactly do you think does increase the barrier? Apart from the lacking error message I mean.
2.) Your announcement clearly talked only about Factory packages. IMO there are only two credible options: Either fix your implementation to actually only affect Factory packages or discuss it again on the factory mailing list.
The correct statement would have been that it affects the "Factory repository". This is the one you are typically building against even in your home project. And in this repository the factory rpmlint rules apply. If it helps you then I will post a clarification in that thread. We are currently in an effort to better document the procedures. I think once enough documentation is there I can do another posting on the Factory list that refers to the documentation as a reminder. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
