Thank you for your time investigating this bug. I understand the szip dilemma
now; I was not aware of that.
It looks like this is not going to be an easy problem to solve. I started
thinking of other solutions. Other possibilities are:
- Disabling HDF5 support in CDO. As far as I know, HDF5 support is only needed
for the 'import_cmsaf' subcommand (which, unfortunately, is something that we
use internally). By dropping support for this command, the direct HDF5
dependency could be dropped.
- Linking the netCDF library statically as suggested here:
https://code.mpimet.mpg.de/projects/cdo/wiki/Cdo#Static-build-with-netcdf-4x...
- but I am well aware this is a technically inferior solution :(
- Or, linking the HDF5 library statically, given that its use in 'cdo' is
rather limited.
