Hi Takashi,
I'm not using nouveau at all in this installation:
ivan@mynote:~> lsmod|grep nouveau
ivan@mynote:~> lsmod|grep video
uvcvideo 94208 0
videobuf2_vmalloc 16384 1 uvcvideo
videobuf2_memops 16384 1 videobuf2_vmalloc
videobuf2_v4l2 28672 1 uvcvideo
videobuf2_core 40960 2 uvcvideo,videobuf2_v4l2
videodev 180224 3 uvcvideo,videobuf2_core,videobuf2_v4l2
usbcore 266240 7
uvcvideo,usbhid,xhci_pci,rtsx_usb,ath3k,btusb,xhci_hcd
video 45056 2 msi_wmi,i915
As you can see, the only module loaded is i915. That's a NVidia Optimus laptop,
I'm not using NVidia card here and not interested in it (I have no tasks for
it, I'm absolutely happy with Intel embedded)
I's like to say that just I loaded nouveau last time I got problem: Plasma (I'm
using KDE 5) Taskbar, Tray, Menu button - all freezed, I had to restart. Before
that freeze screen was flickering several times. So I almost sure that nouveau
module is broken - at least for 4.11.8-1-default kernel. I also had similar
problem with previous GE62 (flickering then freeze), was supposing that's
happening because of i915 but now I'm sure nouveau is the root cause.
As I said before, I have no experience with all of these developers things like
debugging etc. so I need further assistance in case if you want to continue. At
the moment my problem gone - I just deleted nouveau and have no problem at the
moment, but if you're interested in further analysis - I'm here and ready to
help. If not - this bug might be closed as we have workaround.
