back to the original message:
1) tried a 1GB USB2-disk, which wasn't mountable before - it was still marked
as "not mountable", but after replugging it it is mounted as expected.
2) the reformatted USB-stick "openSUSE-42.1-DVD-x86_640148 is still not
mountable, but dmesg|tail is now generating a clear error message:
