One thing to know here:

While the system boots (autologin), the X11 session is on vt7 - but then there
was a gdm logout/login added later on (user_gui_login) which means we are no
longer in an autologin session.

in a NOT-Autlogin session, vt7 is reserved for GDM (fast user switching) and
the X11 session goes to the 'first available VT' - so the assumption to find
the X11 session on VT7 is flawed
