http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1043762 Bug ID: 1043762 Summary: efibootmgr openSUSE entry missing, no boot after install. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: priceninetytwo@gmail.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I had to circumvent this problem by installing Leap and upgrading to Tumbleweed. I messed up my Tumbleweed system and did a fresh install a couple days ago. The installation went fine, but on first boot I got the message "error: not a valid root device". I tried reinstalling, redownloading the iso, using the net iso instead of the KDE iso to no avail. I was able to boot by using the ISO and going to More> Boot Linux System. I used the command efibootmgr to check my UEFI entries, and openSUSE wasn't there. I thought I found the solution and simply added the opensuse entry. But it still didn't work because the entry didn't persist on reboot. I booted manually using Boot Linux System and the entry was gone. I think that means it didn't update NVRAM? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
