http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1040386 Bug ID: 1040386 Summary: Kernel 4.11 Workqueue lockup under heavy load to USB drive with XFS DMCrypt partition Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: jeromed@tpg.com.au QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 726049 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=726049&action=edit Snapshot of journal I have a x64 server running Opensuse TW with latest patches as of today (23/May/17). I have 2 USB 4TB drives attached using DMCrypt and XFS. This bug has only occurred on kernel version 4.11.x, when I revert back to 4.10 series kernel I do not have the issue, which POSSIBLY rules out hardware issues. The server could work for many hours without an issue, usually the lock up occurs under heavy load of copying files from an internal HDD to the USB drive. Only way to recover, unless you give me another method, is to cold boot. Touch wood so far I have not lost any data. I will be reverting back to kernel 4.10 if I can to work around the issue. The following is partial dump of the syslog. Please let me know if you require any further information. Cheers Jerome -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
