http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1039974 Bug ID: 1039974 Summary: More consistent visual hints about button functionality Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: moritzrakow@web.de QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 725756 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=725756&action=edit Partinioning screen with differently-looking buttons providing similar functionality ## Overview Throughout the graphical installation process, visual hints about button functionality are applied inconsistently. Non-exhaustive list: * “Help” and “Release Notes…” both display a window with text information, but one has ellipses, the other does not. Ellipses are traditionally used for indicating that an action needs further arguments to be specified in a dialog window (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_User_Access). * Same issue with partition settings (see screenshot). * Three different ways to navigate to a ‘Detailed settings’ screen: Button without ellipses, button with ellipses, headlines as hyperlinks (in “Installation Settings”/Summary screen). Similar inconsistencies exist in the yast GUI, e.g. in the “Software Repositories” module. In my opinion, the hyperlink headlines make it hard to discover that the software selection can be changed, and a very useful customisation option might be overlooked. ## Build date and hardware Build: 0246 on Virtualbox 5 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
