The screen lock was disabled in the dconf editor. It worked after I enabled it
back. The problem is that I could not do it through the Privacy settings in
GNOME, where it was already displayed as turned on, but all the options were
dimmed.
After setting the value of org.gnome.desktop.lockdown.disable_lock_screen to
its "default value", the options got back to be usable and I could lock the
screen again.
Probably, some application i used tinkered with my dconf settings and did this.
I am sorry for not trying harder before reporting this bug.
