Bug ID: 1037955
Summary: [openmpi]: openmpi between SLE-12 SP3 and
openSUSE:Factory (science:HPC) completely out of sync
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Version: Current
Hardware: All
OS: SUSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other

OpenMPI between SLE-12 SP2/3 and openSUSE:Factory (and the devel project at
science:HPC) have become very much out of sync.
A diff between the two spec files shows that features have been added to
SLE-12-SP2 already - like psm2 support- which are still missing from openSUSE.
Please also check boo#983235.

This contradicts the 'Factory First' policy.

I do understand that not all features from Factory will be backported to an
enterprise product - either because they do not apply or break API/ABI in an
incompatible way, or that selected upstream fixes are backported to an older
version in an enterprise product which are part of a newer upstream version in
Factory. However, here, non of this is the case.
This issue should be fixed before addressing FATE#321711 as we should not have
to deal with diverging packages for openSUSE and SLE. In doubt it should be
possible to utilize packages from the openSUSE devel project or Factory,
however, in this case we may run the risk of losing features.
