http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1027112 Bug ID: 1027112 Summary: UEFI doesn't mark disk as bootable if EFI/opensuse/grubx64.efi exists Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: mail@maxlor.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 715632 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=715632&action=edit hwinfo output This Acer Aspire ES1-132 laptop doesn't boot with the default openSUSE tumbleweed installation. The laptop uses UEFI with no option for BIOS fallback. Doesn't boot means: the drive on which openSUSE is installed isn't offered in the UEFI boot menu (pressing F12 on boot), and even if the drive is given priority inside the firmware configuration, it's skipped over when choosing the boot drive. I have installed openSUSE tumbleweed from the install iso, selecting grub2-uefi without secureboot. I discovered that it's the existence of /EFI/opensuse/grubx64.efi that causes this behavior. If I rename it to /EFI/boot/bootx64.efi, everything works. If /EFI/boot/bootx64.efi exists, but /EFI/opensuse/grubx64.efi also exists, the drive is skipped over. If I sneakily rename grub to /EFI/windows/boot/bootfwmg.efi, the system hangs on boot. The issue is slightly annoying because every time grub2 is updated and reinstalled, /EFI/opensuse/grubx64.efi is recreated and I have to rename it before shutdown or find myself locked out of my openSUSE installation. I therefore would like to request an option use /EFI/boot/bootx64.efi instead of /EFI/opensuse/grubx64.efi as grub2 installation filename. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
