I don't quite understand what the software manager has to do with this. Running
on battery power is a temporary thing; the user might plug in external power at
any time. You don't base software selection on anything like this.
Notice that in former times we used to have a software pattern "Laptop" to do
similar things - that was packages that only made sense for laptop users
(bluetooth, power related things etc.); but times have changed, and many of
those technologies have found their way to ordinary desktop computers as well,
so the boundaries are no longer as strict as they used to be.
Or do you just mean the update applet to only run when not on battery?
