Steffen, most of the hardware specific input device issues should be dealt with
on the kernel level.
There is no point to have any HW specific Xserver input driver in the
installer. On first sight, xf86-input-libinput should cover everything you need
to accommodate input devices during install.
We still do ship drivers like synaptics or wacom for the installed system as
there may be special use cases where these drivers provide functionality you
won't get from the libinput driver.
That said, all issues regarding this ought to go to the kernel.
Maybe you can circulate the list of X input drivers we currently have in the
inst-sys so we can look this over and decide how we proceed on those. You may
want to create a separate ticket for this.
