http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=999804 Bug ID: 999804 Summary: Xfce Regression bug in xfsettingsd: Resets display to NULL when power cycled or switched via KVM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Xfce Assignee: bnc-team-xfce@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: gvenkat@docyle.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- This bug has been around and fixed for a long time but keeps reappearing. Worked fine on Opensuse 13.1 but has regressed in Leap 42.1 The problems is well documented elsewhere including on xfce.org for previous versions https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11107 as well as other distros https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-331/+bug/1... The issue is that if the computer is on HDMI (may happen for other types of display outputs) to display via a TV/Monitor or a Home theater center that may be switched to another source, xfsettingsd running on the computer disables that display sink as not available. On switching back, you cannot get access to the previous screen because the display is set to NULL (assuming there are no other displays attached to the computer). The only way to get back is to reboot computer. If xfsettingsd is killed before doing the above switch, can switch back with no problems. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
