gives me sound - but only the left channel ... (I do get this stereo with BT...) Should I suspect my HW at that point ...?
Yes, it looks so. At least, the HD-audio driver is pretty generic, and it works in most cases as is. It implies either a hardware defect or that we need some model-specific quirk.
