--- Comment #25 from Takashi Iwai
Oh, I'll do what is needed, but please treat me like a dummy :-)
I don't actually understand what you want me to do...
"Could you again the kernel in OBS Kernel:openSUSE-42.1 repo in the next weekend? (The commit was today, so the new package will appear in tomorrow.)":
- just wait till tomorrow appears an update with zypper up after booting to originally installed kernel? - or add another repo and zyppering something in? Before, uninstall the 4.3-Kernel? (in this case can you give me the commands please?)
You need to add more repository, yes. Or you can fetch directly from the download URL: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/openSUSE-42.1/standard/x86... and get the latest kernel-default-4.1.*.rpm. (No need for kernel-default-base, kernel-default-devel, etc). Then install it like zypper in kernel-default-4.1.*.rpm Maybe it's better to increase the max number of multiple boot kernels in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf. Edit the file there and change multiverion.kernels = .... line. Add latest-2,latest-3, for example.
"It'd be great if you can check it only with idle=nomwait, and see whether something appears.":
- booting to which version?
The kernel in OBS Kernel:openSUSE-42.1 repo. As mentioned, The new kernel package with SKL intel_idle will be built in tomorrow. So, install this openSUSE-42.1 kernel, and test whether it works without idle=nomwait option like before.
"In anyway, give the kernel messages."
- how do I get them? Is this dmesg? Those of the 4.3-kernel now, and/or after the update tomorrow?
Yes, just the output of dmesg should suffice.
Again, sorry for my ignorance, and thanks for your efforts!
