http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=968017 Bug ID: 968017 Summary: Random kernel crash - Nouveau Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: 2015* Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: zaitor@opensuse.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 666696 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=666696&action=edit dmesg I'm unable to reproduce this crash at will, hence the random in Summary. When the crash happens, I loose keyboard control/the gui is frozen, I can however log in via ssh, and reboot the system. I've had these crashes ever since my gfx got supported by nouveau driver. Note that I've only ever seen them when using xorg, if running with wayland the crash does not seem to trigger. feb. 23 23:44:54 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: read fault at 0000260000 engine 00 [GR] client 04 [GPC0/T1_1] reason 02 [PTE] on channel 4 [007f9e1000 systemd-logind[1060]] feb. 23 23:44:54 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: gr engine fault on channel 4, recovering... feb. 23 23:44:54 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: TRAP ch 4 [007f9e1000 systemd-logind[1060]] feb. 23 23:44:54 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: GPC0/TPC0/TEX: 80000049 feb. 23 23:44:54 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: GPC0/TPC1/TEX: 80000049 feb. 23 23:49:35 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: chrome[10038]: failed to idle channel 9 [chrome[10038]] feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: chrome[10038]: failed to idle channel 9 [chrome[10038]] feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: read fault at 0000013000 engine 07 [PBDMA0] client 07 [HOST_CPU] reason 02 [PTE] on channel 9 [007f790000 chrome[10038]] feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: fifo engine fault on channel 9, recovering... feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------ feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 13323 at ../drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nvkm/engine/fifo/gk104.h:76 gk104_fifo_recover_work+0x22a/0x290 [nouveau]() feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: Modules linked in: rfcomm fuse cmac ecb af_packet bnep msr joydev snd_hda_codec_hdmi raid0 intel_powerclamp coretemp kvm_intel kvm hid_generic irqbypass crct10dif_pclmul iTCO_wdt iTCO_vendor_support crc32_pclmul md_mod crc32c_intel ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel aes_x86_64 lrw dm_mod gf128mul glue_helper ablk_helper cryptd snd_hda_codec_realtek pcspkr snd_hda_codec_generic i2c_i801 snd_usb_audio snd_usbmidi_lib snd_hda_intel uvcvideo snd_rawmidi snd_hda_codec snd_seq_device videobuf2_vmalloc snd_hda_core videobuf2_memops snd_hwdep videobuf2_v4l2 usbhid videobuf2_core snd_pcm btusb videodev btrtl btbcm btintel sr_mod cdrom bluetooth rfkill 8250_fintek snd_timer asus_atk0110 r8169 mii snd fjes lpc_ich mfd_core mei_me mei soundcore acpi_cpufreq tpm_tis shpchp tpm ata_generic serio_raw nouveau feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: xhci_pci video mxm_wmi wmi i2c_algo_bit drm_kms_helper syscopyarea xhci_hcd sysfillrect sysimgblt ehci_pci fb_sys_fops ehci_hcd ttm pata_jmicron usbcore drm usb_common button sg feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: CPU: 1 PID: 13323 Comm: kworker/1:10 Not tainted 4.5.0-rc5-1.g7733b9a-default #1 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: Hardware name: System manufacturer System Product Name/P7H55-M PRO, BIOS 1709 01/04/2011 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: Workqueue: events gk104_fifo_recover_work [nouveau] feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: 0000000000000000 ffff8801d829fd90 ffffffff81395261 0000000000000000 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: ffffffffa0324800 ffff8801d829fdc8 ffffffff8107d912 0000000000400000 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: 0000000000400000 0000000000000000 0000000000000040 ffff8802173fc800 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: Call Trace: feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8101b175>] try_stack_unwind+0x175/0x190 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8101a0c9>] dump_trace+0x69/0x3a0 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8101b1db>] show_trace_log_lvl+0x4b/0x60 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8101a50c>] show_stack_log_lvl+0x10c/0x180 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8101b275>] show_stack+0x25/0x50 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff81395261>] dump_stack+0x63/0x82 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8107d912>] warn_slowpath_common+0x82/0xc0 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8107da0a>] warn_slowpath_null+0x1a/0x20 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffffa027453a>] gk104_fifo_recover_work+0x22a/0x290 [nouveau] feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff81095c3c>] process_one_work+0x15c/0x4b0 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff81095fd8>] worker_thread+0x48/0x4e0 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8109beb9>] kthread+0xc9/0xe0 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff816cc38f>] ret_from_fork+0x3f/0x70 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: DWARF2 unwinder stuck at ret_from_fork+0x3f/0x70 feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: Leftover inexact backtrace: feb. 23 23:49:50 haldis kernel: [<ffffffff8109bdf0>] ?
