"touch: cannot touch ‘my_file’: Read-only file system"
Of course I executed this as root. Weird. I didn't do any custom setup except that fact I have separate /boot partition, and partitioning was done by Yast installer.
What can I do now? I have rwx for this partition already.
This "Read-only file system" has nothing to do with individual file/dir permissions. Most probably the whole filesystem/partition was mounted read-only and so it is immutable (this overrules the individual file permissions; as if was a CD, where you can't edit, no matter what the file permission says). If you execute 'mount' without arguments and look up the line for /boot, you'll most probably see a 'ro' (ReadOnly) in the option section. In the easiest case your /etc/fstab simply demands mounting /boot 'ro' at boot time. (This could be fixed by editing /etc/fstab in case you are familiar with it. Beware of doing it wrong, as you may damage your system. Most probably YAST has means for fixing this as well.) As I'm no YAST wizzard, I'll leave it to a YAST expert to investigate whether this is this is part of some feature, or a bug in yast, or maybe you (accidentally?) demanded this when partitioning (don't know if YAST warns if ro system partitions are created).... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
