http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=954587 Bug ID: 954587 Summary: btrfs balance crashes kernel and locks up system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: 2015* Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: susebugzilla@sajj.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 655504 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=655504&action=edit btrfs-balance-kernel-oops-message Last night I wondered, why my system unexpectedly crashed. After searching in journal I found that btrfs balance triggered by the cron job for btrfs-maintenace is the culprit. Crash is reproducible by giving: alpha:~ # btrfs balance start -musage=30 -v / Dumping filters: flags 0x6, state 0x0, force is off METADATA (flags 0x2): balancing, usage=30 SYSTEM (flags 0x2): balancing, usage=30 Connection to alpha closed. Doesn't matter, whether using musage oder dusage as filter, as long as its value is at least 30. Lower value usually work, but always find something relocate. btrfs scrub doesn't find any errors. Systems is running current tumbleweed "openSUSE Tumbleweed (20151106) (x86_64)" with kernel "Linux alpha 4.3.0-1-default #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Nov 2 15:35:09 UTC 2015 (7b374a4) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux". Same error with previous kernel 4.2.4-1. kernel-oops message is attached. Regards, Andreas -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
