Thank you for your efforts.
I tried printing at 600 dpi and got the command
gs -sstdout=%stderr -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=ijs
-sIjsServer=hpijs -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=842
-sDeviceManufacturer="HEWLETT-PACKARD" -sDeviceModel="deskjet 5600"
-dDuplex=false -r600
-sIjsParams=Quality:Quality=0,Quality:ColorMode=0,Quality:MediaType=0,Quality:PenSet=2,PS:MediaPosition=7
-dIjsUseOutputFD -sOutputFile=%stdout -_
When selecting 600 dpi I get
gs -sstdout=%stderr -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=ijs
-sIjsServer=hpijs -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=842
-sDeviceManufacturer="HEWLETT-PACKARD" -sDeviceModel="deskjet 5600"
-dDuplex=false -r300
-sIjsParams=Quality:Quality=1,Quality:ColorMode=0,Quality:MediaType=0,Quality:PenSet=2,PS:MediaPosition=7
-dIjsUseOutputFD -sOutputFile=%stdout -_
Printing hairline.ps yields two arrows (well, almost as last horizontal line is
not printed, probably due to beeing to close to border).
I also made another test selecting postscript when printing form libreoffice:
Voila, the line is there. Command was
gs -sstdout=%stderr -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=ijs
-sIjsServer=hpijs -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=842
-sDeviceManufacturer="HEWLETT-PACKARD" -sDeviceModel="deskjet 5600"
-dDuplex=false -r600
-sIjsParams=Quality:Quality=0,Quality:ColorMode=2,Quality:MediaType=0,Quality:PenSet=2,PS:MediaPosition=7
-dIjsUseOutputFD -sOutputFile=%stdout -_
So it seems either the generated pdf is not right or gs conversion of this pdf
is not right or my printer has a bug.
