So the problem is just the line "search site" in resolv.conf? Shouldn't we generate that only if the user enters an actual domain?
Not only. There is other way how can resolver get to the ".site" domain. Basically it reads it from /etc/HOSTNAME as a fallback when all other ways how to recognize host's local domain fails.
And I have noticed that we already try to do that so there seems to be a bug in that code in src/services/dns.ycp : https://github.com/yast/yast-network/pull/309/files#diff- 774a3647c8cfc102a44c4306a121e96a
