That's really great it works - sound at last. Thank you to all involved.
I booted Linux 3.16.7-21-desktop (openSUSE 13.2 Harlequin x86_64) with the
following command line parameters:
"resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts init 5 pci=use_crs"
and it picked up the sound card - excellent!
With the same parameters I then booted Linux 4.0.4-1.ga425d38 and also got
sound.
pci=use_crs.
Would you kindly advise what default kernel I should now use and the depository
where it can be found.
Thanks again for all this trouble but it was worthwhile in the end.
