We need to backport some parts from PA 6.0. But it has to be done carefully. I busted once openSUSE 13.2 PA update by incomplete backports, and I had to revert it. So I'm not going to do it unless I receive a test hardware.
Of course, I'd appreciate if anyone takes care of the backports and does submitreq to OBS project.
Just curious, are you aware which parts need to be backported? What I mean, is have you tracked down the source of this issue?
Most likely src/modules/alsa/*
In terms of test hardware, I would think you would be able to reproduce this on most Intel-based laptops.
No, no. Otherwise this has been already noticed before the release. The bug appears only when a machine has a dock port and/or shared volumes among outputs.
Ah okay, I understand. That would also explain why this bug occurs consistently on ThinkPads, as pretty much all ThinkPad models have a docking port.
I assume from what you were saying, that you do not have access to a ThinkPad as test hardware, hmmm. I guess that means, that it might take quite some time to get this resolved, or am I mistaken here?
Correct. Meanwhile TP users can just take PA in multimedia:libs repo. It's a nice improvement than PA 5.0 from all perspectives :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
