I just made a test: I used the KDE live CD of openSUSE 12.3 to boot the laptop
running 13.1 and after having connected the phone (and enabled the usb
storage), it worked. So, it seems that is something specific to oS 13.1 as we
can exclude problems with the USB port (that should be USB-2) and the xhci_hcd
module (unless something changed in such module).
