I have more than a dozen 13.1 installations, none of which have Plymouth
installed. I've encountered shutdown hangs in recent weeks leaving a login
prompt on screen on multiple systems, lasting from several seconds, to multiple
minutes. I've made no prior mention in factory list or Bugzilla because I've
been unable to find any pattern or reason(s) why it does or does not happen,
but suspect it may be network and/or mounts related. Every 13.1 installation
here operates using an identical 1926 byte hosts file, and an identical 128
line fstab tail for nfs and cifs noauto mounts. All have samba, cifs-utils and
nfs-utils installed, rpcbind running, and typically have nfs exports mounted at
shutdown time, but usually no Samba shares. All LAN connections are wired. All
NICs are configured as eth0 started via ifup, with NetworkManager,
wireless-tools and wireless-regdb not installed.
