https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851379 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851379#c0 Summary: booting with 'quiet' and without plymouth -> never finishes booting Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 I don't have any plymouth* packages installed. When I boot, if I choose the default entry, the machine never finishes booting. If I choose the 'recovery mode' version, it boots just fine (although visually different). The two entries differ in only one way: the default has "quiet splash=silent" and the recovery version doesn't. If I remove just the 'quiet' part, then it works fine. I seem to think this came up during Beta and RC testing as well.
