https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=850803 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=850803#c0 Summary: Midnight Commander ssh file transfer: problem with special characters in file name Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: d_werner@gmx.net QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 The transfer of files with special characters in the file name via mc shell connection fails. The problem is not new in openSUSE 13.1, it also happens with 12.3. I suspect a problem with escaping special characters in the "fish" usage of mc. Files with names like "%E3%80%90%E3%80%91%E2%91%A3.foo" cause problems. A) Transfer from local (PC1) to remote (PC2): the file is created in PC2 and even has the correct file name, but the remote panel of mc in PC1 shows a garbled name. B) a file with such problematic name exists on the remote system (PC2): mc on PC1 shows only a garbled name in the panel, no operations are possible on the file. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.in one mc panel on PC1 open a shell connection to a remote system PC2, to a directory where you have write permission 2.in the local directory/panel on PC1 create a file like echo test > "%E3%80%90%E3%80%91%E2%91%A3.foo" the local mc panel displays the file name correctly. 3.copy (F5) the created file to the remote directory on PC2 Actual Results: The file was created in the remote machine PC2. Locally on PC2 or in an ssh session to PC2 can be seen that the file has the correct file name etc. In the mc remote panel of PC1 the name of the file on PC2 appears completely garbled. Expected Results: The display of file names which are valid on the remote system and on the local system should be correct in mc. Both machines use LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, mc is running in konsole. I did not test other terminals or encodings. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
