https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=848800 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=848800#c0 Summary: Btrfs on MD Raid does not boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: norbert.jurkeit@web.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 To give it a try, I selected Btrfs rather than Ext4 as root file system, located on a MD Raid level 1. After reboot the kernel started and issued some of the usual messages, switched screen resolution and then ended up with: "Waiting for device /dev/root to appear... Could not find /dev/root." I tried both file system UUIDs displayed by blkid on the kernel command line, but neither worked. After a new installation with Ext4, the system started normally. Although Btrfs has built in Raid functions, they are still marked as experimental and therefore it looks reasonable for me to use Btrfs in conjunction with a MD Raid. There was also no warning during installation so this combination can be expected to work. I suspect the initrd to not start the Raid and saved it for later investigation. Reproducible: Always Installation was done from KDE live DVD 64 Bit. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
