Summary: Grub fails to work with the boot partition
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 13.1
Version: RC 1
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: SUSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Bootloader
AssignedTo: jsrain@xxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: oxygen.root@xxxxxxxxx

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML,
like Gecko) Chrome/32.0.1685.0 Safari/537.36 SUSE/32.0.1685.0

Installed 13.1 RC1 on my desktop with USB (DVD Version). Non UEFI grub also
fails (UEFI support is already broken) on intial boot when a separate boot
partition is assigned (whether booting from MBR is enabled or boot partition is
enabled). The system gets stuck on grub rescue with the error that
grub2/i386/mod not found.. (or somewhat similar message).
However, when a separate boot partition is not assigned, then the installation
proceeds normally and booting is successful.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install with a separate boot partition
2. initial boot
3.
Actual Results:
system gets stuck on grub rescue

Expected Results:
successful booting
