https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=826865 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=826865#c0 Summary: virt-cloning a VM with a qcow2 disk loses the backing file Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KVM AssignedTo: kvm-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vuntz@suse.com QAContact: jdouglas@suse.com CC: aginies@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- When virt-cloning a VM that is using a qcow2 disk with a backing file, the resulting VM is also using a qcow2 disk but the new qcow2 disk doesn't have the backing file that the first one had. So it's huge. Or in other words: - I have VM A with disk X, that is a qcow2 disk with Z as backing file. Z is huge (15GB) and X is actually very small (< 1GB) - I clone VM A to VM B - VM B gets disk Y, which is qcow2. It has no backing file, and is huge (15GB). - I'd expect disk Y to be the same size as disk X. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
