https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=823713 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=823713#c0 Summary: Weird behavior in icewm when GDM is used Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Milestone 0 Platform: Other OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nrickert@ameritech.net QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 I am seeing this problem on two machines, both with Intel graphics. Machine 1: Running 13.1M1, 32bit. Uses Intel SandyBridge graphics. Machine 2: Running 13.1M1, 64bit. Uses Intel IvyBridge graphics. Machine 2 also has 12.3 Tumbleweed, with similar problems. I have "icewm-default" installed on all of the above. If I login to icewm, then I can open windows as usual. But, when I close a window, the window itself stays there (but it is dead). The closed window is not being properly removed from the display. A second problem is that the opensuse theme wallpaper does not appear. There is only a bland gray background. Machine 1 (but not machine 2) also has a problem with KDE. I have the panel set to auto-hide. It stays permanently hidden. If I switch to using KDM, then none of those problems appear, and all is fine. I believe that the version of GDM being used is from Gnome 3.8. On Machine 1, I also have opensuse 12.3 installed, with Gnome 3.6. Using GDM there is fine. I am not seeing problems. So this appears to be a change with Gnome 3.8. I have another box with 12.3 Tumbleweed, but with Nvidia graphics. I am not seeing the same problem there. (I am seeing a different problem, but it happens with both GDM and KDM).
