https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=819502 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=819502#c0 Summary: hp8710w freeze with Nvidia driver after few minutes Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: terje@nordland-teknikk.no QAContact: sndirsch@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=538807) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=538807) System information using 'inxi -Fz' User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0 Used a standard 12.3/Gnome x86_64 installation with current 'zypper dup' after that. The standard 'nouveau' workes flawless for the internal WUXGA TFT on this hp8710w with Nvidia Quadro FX 3600M mobile workstation. Want to setup an external highresolution monitor connected with the docking station's dual link DVI-D, and need the Nvidia propriarity driver and nvidia-settings tool for this task. Added the Nvidia repo using YaST and then installed the 'default' selected packages as follows: nvidia-computeG03 nvidia-gfxG03-kmp-desktop nvidia-settings x11-video-nvidiaG03 After reboot the machine freeze (hang) after few minutes, both at the GDM login menu or after login. Only the recovery mode using the fbdev driver works. Doesn't the above support NV FX 3600M or should I try to install other G01 or G02 instead? Attach the system information using 'inxi -Fz' Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. As above 2. 3. Actual Results: Machine freeze (hang) as described Expected Results: The Nvidia driver should work properly (as on some earlier openSUSE versions) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
