From memory, let me repeat what happened:
The installer proposed partitioning, which included reformatting "/dev/sdb1" (the efi partition on that disk). I imported my old partitioning. As best I recall, it still wanted to reformat "/dev/sdb1". I considered changing that, but allowed it to go through since Windows is on a different disk. I don't recall checking whether it proposed to reformat "/boot" ("/dev/sdb2"), but I think it didn't. And that is probably another bug. Note that I am using an encrypted LVM, which is why there's a separate "/boot". I looked at "/boot", and it still contains the kernels and initrd files from RC2, which I take to be clear evidence that "/boot" was not reformatted.
