This is inherently grub2's design, it supports reading md array blocks but
requiring that core.img be loaded and run. Usually it's put on sector gap
between mbr and start of first partition. (So choose MBR as install location
could fix your problem).
Although legacy grub not support reading md array blocks, since RAID1 merely
create duplicates (ie physical sector not mapped), it could support installing
on RAID 1 using block-list still.
I agree with that YaST should be awareness on this and do better propose to
user. (For eg, propose location to mbr if using grub2 when raid is configured
(no matter what raid level is).. and if user insist to install on a partition,
showing warning it should use grub .. but only RAID 1 could be supported this
way)
