This it true and I'm aware of ... nevertheless as this is the very first
shot for the new TeXLive package layout I'm interested how far the system,
especially the X Window System and Printing system, is affected by the
08-texlive-*.conf files.
And if there is a slow down of the X Window System and/or Printing system
the user can enable/disable simply by using sysmbolic links the specific
fonts. And the user has the choise of using either the more fine-grained
08-texlive-*.conf _OR_ the more global the 09-texlive*.conf files.
I'd like to hear some more operating experience on opensuse@opensuse.org
therefore it would be very kind if you could open a thread to discuss this
issue. If you open such a thread please add my to CC list.
Thanking you in anticipation!
