Well, I don't know who included this lines - but instead of using
/etc/init.d/boot.local, which is in the hand of an end user, there should IMHO
be at least an own init script (if this is needed at all) with the content
listed above and covered by something like:
. /etc/sysconfig/livecd
if [ "$RESET_DISPLAYMANAGER" == "yes" ]; then
...
if
This init script together with a sysconfig file which is placed into
/etc/sysconfig/livecd should fix the main problem - telling users that they
should adapt the config in this special sysconfig script is something that
should also be covered.
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Conventions_RPM_Macros#.25fillup_a...
also tells about adding additional values to an existing sysconfig file like
/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager where some "Reset WDM during LiveCD start" might
belong to. Up to the developers to decide about the best solution.
Jigish: I'm assigning this bug to you at the moment, as I guess you know whom
to contact to discuss and fix the problem. Maybe there are other solutions, but
with the current one, someone has to edit the boot.local init script, which is
indeed not the best/right solution.
