https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750306 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750306#c0 Summary: Installer imposes unnecessary restrictions on LVM encryption password Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: novell@glass.org.nz QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 The installer will not allow one to encrypt a volume group using a pass phrase containing an '=' character. I have successfully used an '=' character in the LVM encryption pass phrase on other distributions (specifically Debian, Fedora and Ubuntu (alternative installer)). OpenSUSE disallows this and displays a prompt with a list of allowable characters, which '=' (and possibly other legitimate characters) is noticeably absent from. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Begin OpenSUSE installation 2. On the "Suggested Partitioning" screen tick "Create LVM Based Proposal" and "Encrypt Volume Group" 3. Enter a password containing an '=' character into the "Enter your password" notification box 4. Click "OK" Actual Results: An alert appears advising that the only allowable characters are 0..9, a..z, A..Z, and any of "@#* ,.;:._-+!$%&/|?{[()]}^\<>" Expected Results: Accepted the password containing the '=' character as a valid password. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
