This is not related to cryptsetup. It even happens with a simple dd. After
setting up the loop devices (luksFormat isn't needed), the command
mycall((
"dd",
"if=/dev/zero",
"of=/dev/loop%d"%n,
"bs=4K",
"count=16",
),stderr=STDOUT)
triggers the bug.
Sorry, I just discovered this. Maybe the title of this bug should be like
"Subprocesses of Python hang when accessing block devices in parallel".
