This problem is caused by mismatch of the default value of "preload_engine". IBus expects NULL, but GConf returns an empty list on openSUSE. I have created a small patch and I will submit it to M17N soon. Now we have to check each input engine has appropriate rank values which is used to select a default engine for each language. Several people in Japanese community reported that they were confused after installation. So, I think this fix should be distributed by the online update. How do you think?
